Local police will be on the lookout for drunken drivers this Fourth of July weekend.
“Every Sonoma County law enforcement agency is ramping up their enforcement to make our roads safer this Fourth of July,” said Police Chief Patrick Williams in a news release. His department heads the county-wide anti-DUI task force.
Enforcement efforts will include one DUI/ drivers license checkpoint at an undisclosed location as well as increased patrols in numerous areas of the county.
Sgt. Jim Stephenson, who heads the task force, recommended that drivers plan ahead and designate a sober driver or taxi ride. He also encouraged folks to report any suspected drunken drivers they see on the road.
