Police: Santa Rosa man sought sex with boy

A Santa Rosa man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sex crimes after he agreed to meet a Santa Rosa police officer posing online as a young boy.

Kenneth Blanton Jr., 38, was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of attempting lewd acts with a minor under age 14, lewd online communications with a minor and other charges. His bail was set at $100,000.

Police said that last month, a detective responded to a social media ad where Blanton posted he wanted to have sex with a “young boi.” A detective, posing as a young boy, carried on communications with Blanton online and eventually agreed to a meeting, according to a statement released by police.

It was at this meeting that Blanton was arrested, police said.
