Three arrested in Santa Rosa stabbing

Three people were arrested in connection with the early Sunday morning stabbing of a 19-year-old Santa Rosa man in one of the city's more exclusive neighborhoods.

Police said Shane Schueler was stabbed at least twice in his torso at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and McDonald Avenue.

Schueler, who remained hospitalized Sunday afternoon, is expected to survive the attack, Sgt. David Linscomb said.

Police were investigating a possible motive for the stabbing but said it doesn't appear to involve drugs or gangs.

Schueler had been told to leave a party in the vicinity of Pacific Avenue and Wright Street after he became drunk and belligerent, Linscomb said.

Witnesses said the three suspects did not attend the party. Linscomb said the trio came upon Schueler and an altercation ensued.

Police arrested James Kamau, 18, of Santa Rosa, and two youths ages 15 and 17 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police did not identify the youths because of their ages.
