Ukiah driver suspected of tossing drugs from car

A woman tossed suspected drugs out the window of her vehicle as she led police on an hour-long, high-speed chase through Ukiah and the surrounding area early Thursday morning, according to the Ukiah Police Department.

After her car became disabled on a rural road, Bobbi Lee Maki, 29, was arrested and booked into the Mendocino County jail on suspicion of transportation of methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, vehicular evasion, driving on a suspended license and violating her probation, according to the Ukiah Police Department.

The chase began at about 12:15 a.m. when a police officer noticed Maki's vehicle failed to stop completely at a south Ukiah intersection and that it was weaving, authorities said. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, Maki sped away, driving at speeds of up to 80 mph, police said.

She drove north and west of Ukiah before her car broke down on Low Gap Road and she was taken into custody, police said. Sheriff's deputies and the CHP joined the pursuit as it left city limits.

Throughout the chase, Maki was seen tossing items from the vehicle, police said. Officers later found about a pound of marijuana, several grams of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe inside the vehicle.
