Frank and Delores Robinson

  • Frank and Delores Robinson

Frank and Delores (Bellinger) Robinson celebrated their 60th anniversary with a trip to Tucson, Ariz. They visited friends Frank was stationed with during the Korean War and went to the old airbase and air and space museum.

The couple became sweethearts while attending Healdsburg High School. They met at a football game and shared a typing class. When Frank first saw Delores, he recalls thinking, "There goes my wife." It was love at first sight, and the feeling was mutual.

For their first date they went to a drive-in movie in Frank's father's car. They recall few details regarding the film, as they were too busy making out in the back seat. Although his father urged him not to, Frank let his friend drive the car home. They ended up crashing into a ditch on Fred MacMurray's ranch. Although their romance may have had a smashing start, it has been smooth sailing ever since. They dated for four years. Then on Aug. 1, 1953, in Carson City, Nev., Frank and Delores became husband and wife.

Frank was an Optical Coating engineer and Delores worked at Bank of the Redwoods. They lived in Healdsburg and currently reside in Windsor.

The couple's hobbies include golf, hunting for gold with the Santa Rosa Gold Diggers, and flying. Frank owns his own plane and flies to club meetings and events. They have taken trips to the Sierra and Arizona and have traveled all around the country by motor home. They have also spent some time in tropical locales including the Caribbean, Hawaii and Florida, where they enjoyed taking underwater photos.

Family members include: son, Todd Robinson, and his wife, Susie, of Middletown; and daughter Wendy Robinson of Hidden Valley. They have one grandchild, Makena.

Frank claims the key to their long and happy marriage is having a very tolerant wife.
