For the second straight evening, several hundred people are marching in Santa Rosa tonight, many holding white balloons, to demonstrate their support for the family of the 13-year-old southwest Santa Rosa boy who was shot to death Tuesday by Sonoma County sheriff's deputies.

Tonight's march began in Roseland outside a Sebastopol Road shopping center and was headed toward City Hall.

Many carried white balloons, scrawled with “RIP Andy Lopez,” to honor the Cook Middle School student.

“We're here to, like, show respect for Andy,” said Adrian Leon, 12, a Cook student.

A group of Cook students showed up at about 5 p.m. in front of the Roxy 14 movie theater in downtown Santa Rosa, then joined the group of parents walking from Roseland to City Hall.

On Wednesday night, several hundred people poured into the streets to mourn the death of Andy Lopez and demand answers as to how deputies mistook the boy's BB gun for an AK-47-style assault rifle. Families and neighbors moved down Corby and Moorland avenues toward the site where Lopez was shot and killed, chanting “We need justice” as passing cars honked.
