Summer fun lingers into fall

The warm days are going away, and along with them, some of the North Bay's favorite pastimes. But you can still squeeze out some last drops of Indian-summer fun with a canoe trip or dip in the pool.

What are you doing today? If you awake to sun, consider heading down to Morton's Warm Springs for one last watery hurrah.

This is the last weekend to dive into the mineral pools at the Sonoma Valley's old-timey summer spot. Pack a picnic and and say farewell to summer. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 1651 Warm Springs Road, Glen Ellen. Information: 833-5511, www.mortonswarmsprings.com.

Francis Ford Coppola Winery stretches the swim season through October, so if you love lounging by a pool with some of the glamor of Hollywood, you still have a few weeks to do so.

Coppola created the 3,600 square feet of connected pools with kids in mind, so make it a family day trip. Rent your own Euro-style cabine for the day equipped with a shower, four lounge chairs and wine-tasting passes ($125 for up to four people). Otherwise, admission is $20, $10 for kids under 13 and seniors 65 and up. Open only on weekends. Reservations are urged. 300 Via Archimedes, Geyserville. Information: 857-1471, www.franciscoppolawinery.com.

There's still time for a canoe or kayak trip down the Russian River before concession boats get dry-docked for the winter.

Both Burke's Canoe Trips in Forestville and River's Edge in Healdsburg will stay open into October as long as the weather holds.

“It's a real nice summertime thing to do before the winter sets in,” said Burke's Canoe Trips owner Linda Burke. Cost is $65 for a two-person canoe. River Road at Mirabel Road, Forestville. Information: 887-1222, www.burkescanoetrips.com.

River's Edge covers the upper Russian River. Cost starts at $80 for a 5-mile trip in a double canoe. 13840 Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg. Information: 433-7247, www.riversedgekayakandcanoe.com.
