Tate Stevens at Sonoma Stampede

  • Tate Stevens

National, regional and local country musicians will play live on two stages at the day-long Sonoma Stampede event Sept. 21 in Windsor.

The roster includes Tate Stevens, Nashville recording artist and 2012 season-two winner of Fox TV's "X Factor" talent competition series, and Frankie Ballard, touring nationally with his hit single, "Helluva Life."

The program also includes Santa Rosa native and Nashville recording artist Pete Stringfellow, Sonoma County favorite Shannon Rider and 18-year-old McKenna Faith of Ukiah, touring nationally for her second album, "We Like Trucks."

"Sonoma County is a really great market for the country music fan," said Eric Weisz, co-producer of the event, "and the national trend is that country music is the fastest-growing genre."

The producers of Sonoma Stampede hope it will become an annual event, said co-producer Manny Rivera.

Gates open at 11 a.m. at Keiser Park, 700 Windsor River Road, with a country music DJ at 11:30 a.m. and live music running from 1:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The event offers barbecue, food vendors, beer and wine, and an afternoon of activities billed as the "Redneck Games," including a mudpit bellyflop contest and a variation on horseshoe throwing, using toilet seats instead of horseshoes.

Advance tickets online cost $34.95 for general admission, $20 for children age 7 to 12, and $75 for VIP treatment, including a barbecue meal, special seating and more. Children age 6 and younger get in free.
