The CHP is conducting child safety seat inspections at its Rohnert Park office on Wednesday and still has room for walk-in traffic on a first-come, first-served basis, CHP staffers said Tuesday.
Trained officers from Sonoma and Marin counties will be on-hand to ensure infant, toddler and booster seats fit properly and are correctly installed, especially given the variety and complexity of modern-day child safety devices.
“They say three out of five are not installed properly,” Officer Will Brown said. “We're trying to fix that number, one car seat at a time.”
Some child safety seats also are available for low-income families, the CHP said.
The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 6100 Labath Ave., just north of Rohnert Park Expressway, west of Highway 101.
