Santa Rosa Symphony appoints new board members

The Santa Rosa Symphony has appointed five new members to its 37-member board of directors, including four from the community and one from the orchestra.

The new board members are Linda Castiglioni of Windsor, Ronald La Bruzzo of Santa Rosa, Dora Muir of Santa Rosa, Julia Parranto of Santa Rosa, and orchestra representive Tamara Voyles of Sebastopol.

A native of San Francisco, Castiglioni studied piano as a child and worked in the medical technology field and in the insurance business. She has subscribed to the symphony since retiring and moving to Windsor in 2004.

A native of Monterey, La Bruzzo has worked in banking and finance for more than 30 years and is currently vice president of Rabobank in Santa Rosa. He enjoys bicycling, traveling, hiking and gardening, along with his volunteer work.

Originally from St. Paul, Minn., Parranto is a trial attorney in private practice in Santa Rosa since 1992. She has three children, enjoys all kinds of music and does volunteer work for local courts and the bar.

Muir, who grew up in Bellevue, Wash., played piano, flute, and vibes in the school band. Trained as a graphic designer, she moved to Santa Rosa in 2002 and joined Wells Fargo Bank in 2004. She is currently a resident of the Sonoma Valley, sings in and serves on the board of the Sonoma Bach Choir.

A violinist since the age of nine, Voyles earned a bachelor of music degree from San Francisco State and a masters of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She is currently in her 26th season with the Santa Rosa Symphony and lives in Sebastopol with her daughter.

“I am privileged to welcome these five new members to the board of directors of the Santa Rosa Symphony,” said James Hinton, the newly-elected board president. “They bring talent and energy and a passion for excellence.”

Other elected officers include Vice-President Sara Woodfield, Treasurer Harry Rubins and Secretary Judith Gappa.
