Two sought in apparent Petaluma mugging

Petaluma police are seeking two suspects in an apparent mugging near the fairgrounds early Sunday morning.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was treated at Petaluma Valley Hospital for a head wound he said he received when he was attacked by two strangers on Fair Street near Western Avenue.

The man told police he was walking along Fair Street about 3 a.m. when two men approached him, struck him on the head and stole a small amount of cash. The suspects ran off toward Western Avenue.

A family member who was already en route to pick the man up found him and drove him to the hospital, Sgt. Andrew Urton said. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The suspects were described as clean shaven and about 18 to 19 years old, one black and one Latino.

The Latino is about 5 feet 9 inches and 160 to 170 pounds, wearing a dark baseball hat, dark jacket and black gloves. The black man was about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 150 to 160 pounds, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and aviator sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 778-4372.
