Owner Mary Tucker thought she made a good buy 38 days ago when she claimed Catrageous for $25,000 at Hollywood Park.

Just how good a bargain she got played out Saturday at the fair as Tucker's 3-year-old filly captured the $55,450 Wine Country Stakes.

The winner's share: $32,100. In other words, after expenses, every dollar Catrageous brings in from here on out will be pure profit. Catrageous was the longshot of the six-horse field and paid $18.80 to win.

She had a ground-saving trip under jockey Juan Hernandez and won by 2 lengths.

Armando Lage is the winning trainer.

Pacesetter Life Is a Stone finished second and Sassy Brunette settled for third.

Hernandez was the day's riding star. He also booted home Drewthetiger ($5) in the fifth race and Kevinator ($6.20) in the 10th.

In the first race today, a 350-yard dash for mules, three sisters will race against each other. The middle sister — 8-year-old Bar JF Red Ticket — is the fastest of the three. She'll be seeking her 49th victory in 68 races. ... Bar Jf Lottoticket, is 7 and her record is not as impressive as her older sisters. She has six wins in 55 races. Halo Dolly, who was last seen locally when she won the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in 2011, returns for today's $50,000 Luther Burbank Handicap. ... After winning here, the Jerry Hollendorfer-trainee captured the prestigious Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Santa Anita. Russell Baze rides today. ...
