Cantina property for sale; bidding open until Friday

SANTA ROSA – As plans progress to convert The Cantina restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa into a themed restaurant based on noted Marin County guitarist Carlos Santana, the prominent building itself is for sale.

Hodge Capital Co. of Mill Valley, which established The Cantina restaurants, put the Courthouse Square location at 500 Fourth St. on the market Oct. 8 and wants to have bids on the property in by Oct. 17, according to the Orion Partners commercial real estate team marketing it. Hodge built the Santa Rosa location in 1992.

Early last year, Mr. Santana and Walnut Creek-based Dudum Sports & Entertainment Inc. purchased the three The Cantina restaurants, also located in Walnut Creek and Mill Valley. The Santa Rosa restaurant is under a 15-year lease with options to renew. The conversion of the Santa Rosa restaurant originally scheduled for completion this fall is delayed until next year.
