Injured teens released from hospital

A 15-year-old Sonoma girl driving two friends in rural Sonoma early Saturday when the car rolled did not have a license or learner’s driving permit, the CHP confirmed Monday.

The three were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the 1 a.m. crash on a rural road near the Sonoma-Napa county line. The nature of their injuries was not available, but the teens were released from the hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Vanessa Carrillo, 15, was driving on Burndale Road when she lost control of the car, the CHP said.

The speed on the roadway is 55 mph. But because of the recent rain, the roadway was wet and she apparently was driving too fast to be safe, the CHP said.

Passengers Nicholas Ryan Johnson, 16 and Charles Gregor, 18, complained of pain and Carrillo had complaints of head and neck pain, the CHP said.

Alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation and the driver was expected to be cited for driving violations, including driving without a license, the CHP said.

    These kids were lucky, where were the parents? 15 years old driving at 1 am in bad weather...

    Also under California law, a 15 year old does not have a valid drivers license.

    They should also charge the parents for allowing their daughter to drive the car.

    Take notice here of the biased reporting the pressdemo provides. Two minors and one adult involved. Two out the three have white names and the driver likely had a learners permit to drive so all names are printed. Now if the people involved were Hispanic one of two things would have taken place. Either the biased reporter would not have included the names or they would not have printed the story at all. And the odds of the Hispanic drivers not being licensed or insured when they get into an accident are more than 10 to 1 as we have all know. The pressdemo must think we are as inept as their reporters, what fools.driving permits can be issued at 15 an a half

    I seriously doubt her parents were like, "Here Pumpkin, take the keys to the car, come home whenever you feel like it, hell, here's my atm card too."
    She's fifteen, they do this kind of stuff... That doesn't make it okay, she knows the rules, and so does the 16 and 18 year old in the car.

    What are you guys blind? Did you read my post? Driving permits can be issued at 15 and a half years old. I even included the link so you could read it for yourselves. People in general are so stupid; you two are good examples.

    Ocliflex,

    In order for a 15 yr old to drive the adult in the car has to be 25. I think you should have read the provisional information a lot better. So who is the ignorant one?

    What scares me is that I could have been driving on that road. I could care less if these morons kill each other, but what about innocent bystanders? Too bad we still treat minors like children when they commit adult crimes.
