Brush fire closes Highway 116
Last Modified: Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 9:30 p.m.
A brush fire near Highway 116 between Forestville and Guerneville burned five acres of steep terrain Tuesday evening, according to Cal Fire.
The fire, reported at 5 p.m. in the Pocket Canyon area, closed the highway from Odd Fellows Park Road to Mays Canyon Road. Drivers were rerouted to River Road, said an operator with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Air tanks, fire engines, water tenders and helicopters were used to extinguish the fire, which threatened one home and took an hour and a half to contain.
Agencies from Sonoma County, including the Santa Rosa Fire Department, responded.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.

Homerun95403 why must you slander an article from this paper? It would appear that you have very little to do with your life maybe you should go back to school and become a reporter as you appear to have very little education and even less of a grasp of todayâ??s media. No I am not a member of this paper just tired of your dribble, get a life.

Kudos to CDF, Monte Rio, Guerneville Fire Dept, Sonoma Co Sheriff Dept and the CHP! They were right on it and brought the fire under control! Kudos to PG&E for restoring the power to Guerneville hours before they estimated; let's see if they can do that again during the winter! Major thanks to Isaias Holguin, Holguin Trucking from Monte Rio for calling it in, when he figured calls had already been made. Thank goodness no homes were involved. And shame on you to the idiot who stopped his car in the middle of the road on 116 to block the way for the response vehicles to get through. Let the professionals do their job; otherwise that CDF tractor/trailer carrying a bulldozer would have plowed right through you!

Forgot to add one more important fact; Thank goodness there were still boards in the dam for the helicopter to be able to draw water out of the river to help fight the fire....maybe Fish and Game should consider fire season before they keep moving the dates up for the dam removals....if the dams would have been completely removed, who knows what could have happened!

Well Jack, whether or not you are member of the staff or in any way associated with this periodical I am wondering really what your objection to the response and critique is. I noted that HomeRun was specific in what he or she felt was lacking in the story.Further I did not find it overly critical, because the point he was making was the same that a first year journalist is taught in the construct of a properly constructed article.
In your reply to him you attacked, and I will assume Homerun is a male, for the sake of the discussion (sorry if that is incorrect), his education level and assume he pays for a service.
It seems that you are saying that if anyone is critical of what information that they expect then they in someway lack intelligence. Well it would seem to me that the opposite may be a more valid observation.
And by the way, you might want to review what you said in your post. As a reader I had to read it several times to be sure what you were trying to say. Your punctuation and sentence construct seems sorely lacking.

If I ever won the lottery (1st I'd have to buy a ticket) I think it would be amusing to invite this particular group of people together for a weekend. I read these "chats" and I am reminded of "All In The Family," "Law and Order," and an animated cartoon that I cannot recall the name of. It is about a group of people in Texas....you know with Bobby and Peg ..Hill or something like that.
It would be so much fun!! Keep it up.

Hey! I just moved to Sonoma County from Texas, and I should say that I never observed the kind of blather and rants until I got here. The funniest postings are littered with poor diction and misspellings; these righteous authors often shout about the poor educashun and intelligience of other's, espceialy the Libs and Democrates.
