Last Modified: Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 5:46 p.m.
A woman, her brother and her young daughter were hurt when a minivan struck them as they crossed Santa Rosa Avenue in a crosswalk Friday night, police said.
The woman, Josefa Lopez, 18, her 8-year-old brother and her 2-year-old daughter, were hospitalized in Santa Rosa, but the children were later taken by air to a Bay Area children’s hospital, police said.
Further details about the extent of their injuries were not available. The accident happened about 7:55 p.m. and was reported via 911, Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Doug Schlief said in a press release.
The minivan’s driver was identified as Karin Jones, 49, of Petaluma, Schlief said. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
Lopez and the children were apparently crossing the street from east to west near Bellevue Avenue, when the van, southbound on Santa Rosa Avenue, hit them.
Lopez and the children were in a marked crosswalk when they were hit, Schlief said.

RE: Link
Why even mention alcohol if there was no indication. I see these people, and you know what kind of people I'm talking about, leading their children across streets without even looking behind them or holding their hands, and it's no wonder they get hurt.

It's sad when any one gets hurt by careless motorists. To suggest that they were at fault because of race is down right stupid.

Opps, you got me. How many of us, before reading the article, immediately thought the driver was an illegal and ran away?
Show of hands please!

So when an illegal hits an American Citizen, I guess it's not considered "racist" then?
On a side-note, an 18-yr-old w/ a 2 yr-old kid, and the ObamaBots are'nt beating a brow over that, like they are over Sarah Palin's Daughter?
Call it what You will, but it's still over-population in My eyes...and I'm a Rabbit.
