WINDSOR
Driver damages turf; DUI suspected
Last Modified: Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 5:22 a.m.
On Wednesday a suspected drunken driver drove onto the lawn of a park in east Windsor and spun his truck, damaging the turf, Windsor police said.
Then the young man continued on Foothill Drive and hit a parked work truck, damaging the truck and totaling his own pickup, Windsor Sgt. Steve Gossett said.
From there, he ran. Windsor police received numerous calls from residents reporting the incidents and officers found the man hiding in bushes in the neighborhood.
They arrested Derric Perez, 21, of Windsor. He was jailed on suspicion of felony vandalism for causing about $400 damage to the park lawn, and drunken driving, hit and run and carrying an unloaded handgun in his vehicle, Gossett said.
Perez remained in Sonoma County Jail Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $10,000 bail.

RE: Link
Sounds like he ran out of bullets doing drive by shootings so he decided to tear up some innocent property with his truck!
please we need more people like this!
now lets hear from the bleeding heart liberals!
"Its not their fault! we should do more for the poor bastards like build more youth clubs with tax payer money so they have alternatives to these kinds of activities!"

Ran out of Bullets? Why is the mention of a gun even in the article? Who cares that he had a gun, he wasn't using it, wasn't a threat with it. He's 21, young, dumb and... Let's just hope this is a wake-up call. Hopefully the punishment includes paying for the damaged parked truck and personally repairing the turf on top of the DUI.

Since when is carrying an unloaded handgun in a vehicle illegal? Assuming it's not stolen, of course. Suppose you're on your way to the firing range for target practice?

I know this young man. He's never been in trouble in his life. Sounds like something happened, he got drunk and made some really stupid late night decisions, like most young men I know. He'll be paying for it for a long time.
