MADERA -- Search and rescue teams are searching the Sierra National Forest in eastern Madera County for a 71-year-old woman who vanished while walking her dog.

Authorities say Ruth Elaine Terry went for her regular morning half-mile walk Sunday with her English sheepdog mix at Wagner's Mammoth Pool Resort on the San Joaquin River east of North Fork.

Terry and her husband had been working at Wagner's as camp hosts. She is described as being 5-feet-4, 152 pounds with gray hair and glasses.

Madera County sheriff's authorities say search dogs followed the woman's regular path but lost the scent of both her and her dog at her turnaround point. Sixty volunteers and seven canine teams are involved.
