Agilent reports modest increase in revenues
Thursday, August 14, 2008
Overall, Agilent's revenues for the third quarter were $1.44 billion. Net income was $169 million, down 8.6 percent from $185 million a year earlier. Electronic Measurements revenues were $878 million, up slightly from $874 million in the third quarter of 2007.
Soft markets in the U.S. and a weak economy in Japan kept Agilent's growth on the low end of expectations, said Agilent President and CEO Bill Sullivan.
According to Ron Nersesian, vice president of the Wireless Business Unit and Santa Rosa site manager, the Wireless Business Unit performed very well within the Electronic Measurements group.
"Despite the softening of the market, we were able to hold expenses down and we're very pleased with the results we delivered,” he said.
"We anticipate meeting or exceeding expectations in the upcoming quarters."
Agilent employs 1,400 at its Santa Rosa campus.
