HOW HOT WAS IT?

Triple digits rule in North Coast

JOHN BURGESS/ The Press Democrat
Nothing like a blast from a sprinkler on a hot day for Crowfoot Ranch's working dog Tripper, who managed a shower and a drink just south of Ukiah where temperatures were over 100 degrees Tuesday.

It was baking in Santa Rosa at 99 degrees.

It was broiling in Boonville at 110.

But it absolutely was sizzling in Middletown on Tuesday, where the high hit 115.

And Wednesday is forecast to be even hotter.

Tuesday's 99 in Santa Rosa was shy of the record 103 degrees set in 1905, but Wednesday's forecast is expected to come close to or perhaps break the record 100 degrees set in 2002.

Weather forecasters don't expect much relief until perhaps Friday, when the highs should drop into the 90s.
