Hot today, but cooler weekend coming

The last days of spring 2008 in Santa Rosa will go out with summer-like temperatures in the 90s, according to weather forecasters.
But as the first day of summer hits Friday - the summer solstice is at 4:59 p.m. - expect cooler spring-like temperatures in the 70s.
Santa Rosa could have a 14 degree drop in heat between today’s predicted 92 degree high and Saturday’s 78, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday morning the coast was clear. There wasn’t a lick of fog to be found in the area unless you count the ghostly mist over the Laguna de Santa Rosa at sunrise.
Some north Bay Area cities and towns will climb high into the 90s today with inland areas flirting with 100. Temperatures will remain mild along the coast.
A northward air flow today means dry conditions and very low humidity. Coupled with the high temperatures, firefighters are anticipating the potential for trouble.
“Hopefully we’ll make it through today” without a major fire, said Capt. Redhawk Palleson, with state forestry in St. Helena.
California already has seen major fires this season, including two being wrapped up this week in Paradise, near Chico and Bonny Doon, near Santa Cruz.
