Sonoma State failed to get out of the first round of the national championship lacrosse tournament for the second consecutive year, falling to Georgia on Tuesday, 19-15.

The Bulldogs scored the first four goals of the contest on their way to a 10-6 halftime lead. SSU whittled the deficit down to three late in the second half, but couldn't stop Georgia's offense, which seemed to score at will on the normally solid Seawolf defense. Coming into the game, Sonoma State had allowed 6.4 goals per game.

The Seawolves were led by senior attackman Cito Williams, who scored three goals and assisted on three others. Junior midfieder Marcus Sylva scored four times for SSU.

The Seawolves will play Lindenwood University in the consolation Bracket at 11 a.m. today, while Georgia will face top-seeded Michigan at 5 p.m.

SSU won the national title in 2002.
