Infineon Raceway reaches parking sponsorship deal with FasTrak

SONOMA, May 6, 2008 -- Infineon Raceway has landed a one-year sponsorship deal with FasTrak, an electronic toll-collection system used on Bay Area bridges.

As part of the deal, race track visitors with a FasTrak device will be allowed to use a special lane and parking lot, both branded with the FasTrak name, to access the facility.

“That should get people in and out of here at a better rate of speed, much the same as it does on the Bay Area bridges,” Infineon spokesman John Cardinale said.

FasTrak will also receive a season long signage presence at the track.

The value of the sponsorship deal was not disclosed, but Mr. Cardinale said it is in the “very high five figures,” and the race track hopes to sign another contract with FasTrak next year.

FasTrak lets drivers use special lanes and pass through toll plazas without stopping. An antenna reads a tag on the car and deducts the toll from a prepaid account, using a 20 percent discount at the Golden Gate Bridge and the normal rate at other bridges.

Since Infineon offers free parking, no electronic payments will be collected at the race track.
