Gauchos win Wescott Memorial

Jordan Braa tripled with one out in the seventh inning and a pinch-runner scored the winning run on a wild pitch to give Casa Grande a 4-3 victory over Rancho Cotate on Wednesday in the championship game of the Adam Westcott Memorial Tournament at Casa Grande.

The Gauchos' Spencer Finkdohner, the tournament's co-most valuable pitcher with teammate Dino Cristiani, allowed one earned run and four hits in six innings. Casa Grande's Anthony Biasi, who went 1-for-3 with a double, was named the most valubale hitter of the eight-team tournament.

In the third-place game, Vintage beat Cardinal Newman, 7-6, on Ethan Speizer's two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh. Karl Kobler, Ryan Hylbak and Jonathan Flinn each had two hits for Newman.

WEST SONOMA COUNTY TOURNAMENT

Mike Franceschi, Chaz Mathias and Tony DeAmarco each drove in a run and Ian Johnson got the victory to lead El Molino to a 4-3 win against St. Joseph's.

The Lions will meet Northgate, a 4-2 winner against Elsie Allen, in the tournament championship game at 1:30 p.m. today at El Molino.
