Host Casa Grande and Rancho Cotate will play this afternoon for the championship of the Adam Westcott Memorial baseball tournament in Petaluma.
Casa Grande, the tourney's defending champ, scored four runs in the fifth inning and defeated Cardinal Newman, 7-3.
Rancho Cotate scored twice in the bottom of the seventh on a Danny Dworkin double to rally for a 4-3 win against Vintage.
Today's championship game is at 2:30 p.m.
Matt Nadolski pitched six innings with six strikeouts for Casa Grande (7-3). Anthony Biasi went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs. He had a run-scoring single in the first and doubled to open the fifth. Dino Cristiani, Joey Homen, Jordan Braa and Sean Purtell also had hits in the fifth. Purtell's hit was a double.
Rancho Cotate (8-2) received a complete game performance by junior Thomas Wall, who allowed five hits and improved to 3-0.
Trailing 3-2 in the seventh, Mitchell Rowan walked, Aaron Ricossa bunted and the ball was thrown away. Dworkin followed with his game-winning double.
In other games, Napa defeated Hogan, 10-2, and Marin Catholic edged Redwood, 2-1.
In today's other games, Cardinal Newman plays Vintage for third place at 11:30, Marin Catholic plays Napa for fifth place at 2 p.m. and Redwood plays Hogan for seventh place at 11.
RABINOVITZ TOURNAMENT
Piner scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Petaluma, 3-2, at Doyle Park in the championship game of Montgomery's Al Rabinovitz tournament.
Nick Cortese's two-run single was the key hit in the sixth.
Clayton Smith picked up the win in relief.
Piner's Kyle Riedmuller was named the tourney's outstanding hitter and the Prospector's Eric Ortlinghaus and Matt Flynn as well as Petaluma's Chad Krist and Cameron Ross were named all-tourney.
Analy defeated Montgomery, 12-7, to finish third in the tournament. Nick Mutz had three hits and Ben West, Kevin Aronis and Taylor Berenyi each had two hits for the Tigers (9-3).
College Park defeated Cloverdale, 5-2, for fifth place and Santa Rosa got a complete game from Curtis Huffman to edge Windsor, 2-1, for seventh place.
WEST COUNTY TOURNAMENT
After a day off, host El Molino returns to play today against St. Joe's of Alameda at 1:30 p.m.
Elsie Allen, which like El Molino opened the tourney with a win Monday, plays Northgate at 4:15.
In games Tuesday, Northgate defeated Marist of Eugene, Ore., 6-1; Arcata defeated Lower Lake, 9-0, and Marist defeated Fortuna, 11-1.
Lower Lake plays Fortuna today at 10:45 a.m.
