CHP officers are investigating an early Wednesday crash in southeast Petaluma, including whether a Santa Rosa driver ran a stop sign just before the collision.

Two women in the second car were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the 3:40 a.m. crash. They were treated for injuries and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was at Adobe Road near Stage Gulch Road.

Driver Thomas Irving Kleven, 45, of Santa Rosa was driving north on Stage Gulch Road, CHP Officer Barbara Upham said.

She said it’s possible Kleven didn’t stop at the stop sign at the intersection and his Dodge Dakota collided with a 1995 Mazda MPV minivan driven by Brenda Gaither, 50, of Lower Lake.

Also injured was Gaither’s passenger, Susan Bell, 48, of Lower Lake. Kleven reportedly wasn’t injured.
