Defensive lineman Marques Douglas, a classy seven-year NFL veteran, is leaving the 49ers after a successful three-year stay with the organization. He agreed in principle to a four-year contract with the Buccaneers, where he'll start at left end for a team that ranked second in the NFL in total defense last season.
"Obviously, whenever you work so hard it's nice to be rewarded," Douglas said. "It's just that I was rewarded by another team. I wanted to leave the 49ers on a better note, but we didn't get back to winning. They'll just have to do it without me.
