Former Davis Bynum site sold

Westside Road vineyards and facility acquired by Canadian family

The former Davis Bynum winery facility and its Russian River vineyard was acquired this week by a Canadian family.

The price was less than $10 million, said Sally Nicholson, a land broker with International Wine Associates, a Healdsburg firm that represented Bynum and his family in the deal.

The deal included River Bend Winery, a 25,000-case production facility that once housed the Davis Bynum brand. It also included a 20-acre pinot noir and chardonnay vineyard on Westside Road, which Nicholson calls “the Rodeo Drive of pinot noir.”

Westside Road Winery, an investment vehicle formed by the Baker family of Canada, acquired the winery, Nicholson said. The venture, managed by Jeremy Baker, plans to upgrade the winery and vineyard, she said.

Last August, Rodney Strong Vineyards purchased the Davis Bynum wine brand, but was not interested in the winery facility and vineyards.
