Two young men suspected of stealing cases of beer from a Rohnert Park market early Tuesday are now in custody, police reported.

An alarm sounded at Sam’s Market on Redwood Drive at about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday. Arriving officers found a broken glass window and several cases of beer missing, Sgt. Dave Saldanha said.

Officers then got a call saying they’d seen someone pushing a shopping cart inside the Rancho Feliz Mobile Home Park across the street and that it looked suspicious.

Officers found a shopping cart abandoned on a court, and then found a case of beer nearby in front of a home Looking inside the residence, officers saw several cases of beer stacked inside a bedroom. The brand matching the type stolen from the store, Saldanha said.

Three males were in the room and at the sight of officers outside, one man tried to run. Officers detained the trio and two admitted to the burglary.

They were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Justin Ward, 18, of Rohnert Park was taken to Sonoma County Jail. A 17-year-old Petaluma youth was taken to Sonoma County Juvenile Hall.

Saldanha said the beer was worth about $300.
