Highway 116 west of Duncans Mills was closed Friday afternoon at Highway 1 after a private plane made an emergency landing and took down nearby PG&E wires, CHP Sgt. Robert Mota said.

The plane went down at 4:16 p.m., but Mota said it was unclear if it made an emergency landing because it had hit the wires or if it struck the wires while landing.

One person in the plane sustained minor injuries. Mota said it was unclear how many people were in the plane or what type it was.

PG&E crews were on their way to repair the downed wires, but Mota said Highway 116 was likely to be closed at least until 7 p.m. while crews replaced wires and the plane was removed.

“It’s just best to stay away from the area,” he said.

He recommended using such alternative routes as Moscow Road, Bohemian Highway and Coleman Valley Road or Cazadero Highway and Fort Ross Road.
